In order to provide a safe, fun, entertaining event for all, Stark Caverns has put together the following guidelines for youth group campers. Please read through the guidelines before submitting your registration form.

 Reservation Guidelines

  • We require a minimum of 10 youth to book a camping experience - requests for bookings with less than 10 youth will not be eligible for a reservation. If the reservation headcount of youth falls below 10 on the camp date, youth groups are required to pay the full amount for 10 youth.

  • Reservations are required a minimum 14 days before the requested camp date.

  • While on Stark Caverns property, youth campers should always be accompanied by an adult or group leader.

  • You will be invoiced for a 50% deposit shortly after your reservation. Payment of your deposit will lock in your reservation. You will pay the remaining balance due when you arrive to camp.

  • Cancellation must be made within 48 hours of your reserved camp date. $100 of your deposit will be withheld and any additional deposit funds will be refunded to you.

  • The person who makes the reservation is responsible for meeting the guidelines and ensuring payment is completed on time and in full.

In-Cave Camping Guidelines

  • Stark Caverns is a real, natural & living cave. The in-cave camping takes place in our large ballroom area which is approx. 100-200 feet from the open-air entrance of the cave. There are NO heating sources or air conditioning inside the cave. The temperature in this area is only a few degrees different from the current outside temperatures. Winter months are cold, but typically dry. If you are camping in the winter, we recommend you come prepared for freezing temperatures. In warmer months, you can expect a comfortable temperature, but more moisture in the air and on the floor surfaces.

  • No fires, grills, or other heat sources are allowed inside the caverns. A firepit/picnic area is available on the opposite side of the pond from the cave for cooking/general use and we have a secondary smokeless fire pit available for use just outside the cave entrance or at your outside camping location.

  • Electrical outlets are available around the ballroom area where in-cave campers will be staying. When the cave lights are turned out for the evening, these outlets will not have power. We can accommodate power needs for medical devices & other accessibility needs upon request. We encourage our guests to bring extension cords and power adapters as needed.

  • In-cave campers must remain in the Ballroom area of the cave. Access to other areas of the caverns is prohited during overnight stays.

  • No food is allowed inside the cave. Canteens/water bottles are allowed with water ONLY. If food or drinks (non-water) are spilled or left in the caverns, a $150 cleaning fee will be charged to the troop.

Outside Camping Guidelines

  • Your assigned Stark Caverns Team Member will show you where to set up your tents. Locations may vary based on group size, time of year, and special needs to accommodate.

  • You will be near a firepit and a water station.

  • You may not have access to an electricity source.

  • The Visitor Center bathrooms are available for your use day or night.

Check-out time is 9:00am. All campers, gear, trash & other equipment must be out of the cave no later than 9:00am. Our team will be opening up the Visitors Center & Cavern for daily operations. Campers are welcome to use the picnic areas or hiking trails after 9am, but we do request that you move your vehicles to the overflow parking area to allow our regular guests access to the visitor center parking area.
